Allow ads but only for WiFi
I'm cool with supporting the developer with ad use but I wish there was a way to allow ads only when on WiFi.

While I agree with your comment, I personally don't think join is really suited to display ads. I rarely open the android app so I'd assume ads there wouldn't get much click through and implementing them into the chrome extension would mean making them intrusive and annoying.
I personally feel like the better option would be to add tiered subscriptions/donation options. I'd personally limit the number of devices you can have connected with a free account to 5 and then have a one off payment unlock 15 devices and a subscription service allow unlimited. Perhaps other features could fit into these tiers too though not to the extortionate extent that pushbullet has. Mainly just put the high data features behind the one off payment to limit the amount of server usage unless users can pay to support it.
