This is now available in the latest Android Beta.
If I enable Textra's notification, I get a prettier notification with the picture and all... But I receive it twice (Textra and the normal SMS). If we could keep the sms/call feature on but turn off notification for sms. That would do it for me :)

The drawback of that idea is that replying to those messages is a vastly less enjoyable experience than the built-in SMS tool. You can't see any message history / context.

Agreed on this! Missing going from Pushbullet.
Yup, I was surprised when I jumped ship from pushbullet to find that join didn't already have this feature.
