Now phone calls and SMS syncing are the same setting. However, I would prefer if the settings were separated as I personally want just the SMS syncing for now.

Fully agree: I'm fine with SMS syncing (and I'm using it), but don't need voice calls.
Having two separate options would be nice.
This will be available in the next beta (1.8.4b) under Settings -> SMS and Phone Calls -> Advanced -> Phone Notifications
this only halfway solved the problem, while this DOES allow for SMS sync without Call sync, it does NOT allow for vise versa. A request for the latter was placed. https://joaoapps.helprace.com/i577-option-to-disable-sms-sharing-but-keep-call-sharing
